The current-day setting of the Furnham Inn with it's car park, beer garden and children's play area gives no hint as to the history of the pub. The old inn sign hanging high on the post beside the street shows a man leading a horse-drawn barge along a canal. This represents the Chard canal whose terminus was only a hundred yards or so from the pub which would have served the users of the canal and those whose businesses were served by it.
Today the pub serves the local community with darts, pool and skittle teams representing the pub in local leagues. Below are the league tables for the local pool and skittles leagues with the teams from the Furnham Inn in bold.
They have an extensive menu offering fresh home-cooked meals such as steak and kidney pies, chicken leek and mushroom pie, chilli con carne, steaks, lasagne and much more. They also serve a range of bar snacks including steak baguettes, jacket potatoes, toasted sandwiches, chips and burgers.
Fortnightly live entertainment on Friday nights gives customers the opportunity to see some of the best, upcoming local singers and groups. There is also a large screen TV showing live sports action.
