Welcome

The Bradford Bengali Hindu Cultural Society was originally established in 1986 under the name: Yorkshire and Northern Cultural Society. It was later changed to Bradford Bengali Hindu Cultural Society on a later date (2007) and is represented by Bengali Hindus from Sylhet, Assam, Tripura, Assam North and West Bengal in India, all of whom have settled here in the U.K.
The members of the group provide local support, through bringing families together to discuss social, cultural and spiritual issues. We believe heritage is an important factor of who we are. Since the group has been established, volunteers and management are seen as trusted persons within the local community serving people of all ages.

We have celebrated Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja and Dewali every year since established, in 1986 and we plan to do so for years to come. Every year our efforts are being recognised more and more by Bengali Hindus across the nation. Just last year we had a total of 1500 people attending the Puja to celebrate together from similar networks of societies from: Oldham, Rochdale, Southport, Liverpool and Leeds.
The week long festival provides songs, music, arts and dance as well as providing food for every body. Our event has been graciously supported by the local council.
We remember who has helped us establish this organization 20 years ago: -
The late Putul Baidya, Late Upendra Kumar Das, Late Manik Chandra Das, Mr. Sudhir Candra Das, Binoy Bhushan Deb, Digendra Kumar Chanda.

The Bradford Bengali Hindu Cultural Society is run by volunteers. We are a registered charity - No. 1062713 - and solely dependent on kind donations. Our aim is to have our own place for worship and to incorporate an advice centre. To have our own centre, we need to raise sufficient funds, therefore we welcome any generous donations from members of the public. (See CONTACT page to send Donations).

Aims & Visions
To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Bradford and the neighbourhood without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together. Our society, as well as the local authorities, volunteers and other organisations join together in a common effort to:
1) Advance the education of the stated inhabitants in particular but not exclusively by the provision of classes in the Bengali language.
2) Advance the awareness of the Hindu religion.
3) Provide facilities for recreation or other leisure time activities for the stated inhabitants in the interests of social welfare, with the objective of improving their conditions of life.
