The Captain Cook Birthplace Museum opened on the 28th October 1978 the 250th anniversary of Cooks birth. The museum tells the story of one of the worlds greatest navigators and mariners through themed display galleries, temporary exhibitions, associated activities and events and a lively education programme. There is full disabled access, gift/book shop, and a cafe.

The Schoolroom Museum in
Great Ayton is housed in a building once used as a charity school which was founded in 1704 by Michael Postgate,The museum is on the first floor of the building, but there is a lift for the disabled.

Hartlepool's Maritime Experience is located in the heart of the town's developing retail and leisure facilities. It overlooks the stunning marina with its many bars and restaurants, The Maritime Experience has it's own large car park. There is no charge for parking. Opening Times 10am -5pm daily (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day).
