Birthplace of one of Scotland’s biggest personalities the world famous comedian and actor Billy Connolly, Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city. This modern and vibrant city has a plethora of galleries, museums and monuments and plenty to offer any sort of visitor.
Glasgow is a great shopping city, where anything from an Ostrich burger at Patrick Market or a unique and limited edition artwork at the gallery of Modern Art or The Lighthouse, on Mitchell Street can be purchased. These endless possibilities overflow into the night whether it be catching a band at King Tut’s Wah-Wha Hut, having a candle lit meal in a water front restaurant in the newly regenerated Glasgow Harbour or dancing the night away at one of Glasgow’s numerous night spots there really is something for everyone.
In the surrounding highlands can be found the largest fresh water loch in the UK, Loch Lomond. One of the most famous of the Scottish Lochs, written about in both song and verse, Loch Lomond is 25miles long and 5 miles wide with approximately 38 islands there is even a hotel on one! The area is particularly renowned for its beauty and tranquility.
The unique people and of course whisky of the Glengoyne Distillery open for all year round tours, really does draw in the crowds. For a small fee the 45 minute long tour takes you through the 10-year distilling process and includes tasting! A visit to Glasgow or indeed Scotland wouldn’t be the same without an encounter with a fine malt whisky!
