Museums in Coventry
Coventry is the birthplace of the British cycle and motor industry, and the Museum displays the world’s largest collection of British road transport, including 240 cars, commercial vehicles and buses, 100 motorcycles, over 200 cycles and around a million archive and ephemera items. Admission is free.
The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum offers a fascinating visit with international appeal. The museum tells the story of the 6th Foot (Royal Warwickshire Regiment) from its raising in 1674 to the Fusilier of the present day. Greeted on arrival by a soldier of 1744 the story of the "Warwickshire Lads", be they Private or Field Marshal, is revealed through an exciting mixture of real objects, uniforms, weapons, equipment, medals, pictures, documents and curios.
Access
There is no wheelchair access to the first floor at present but certain items can be brought to the ground floor for viewing by appointment. Enquiries welcome.
