Our sheep are grazed on a traditional grazing system within the Suffolk River Valleys Environmentally Sensitive Area, and at Benacre itself on a Country Wildlife Site. The sheep are reared in harmony with the needs of the local wildlife and plants. Animal welfare is our top priority and no growth promoters are used. We are Farm Assured
The animals are allowed to grow slowly and naturally, giving the meat a wonderful flavour and tenderness. they are kept on grass for the vast majority of the year and in the winter months they are kept on stubble turnips and other vegeatables within Suffolk. No concentrated feed is used at all to get our lamb ready for the table.
The animals are taken to a traditional local butcher and processed in the time honoured fashion. No lengthy transporting ensures that the animal's welfare is a top priority and this helps to capture the natural tenderness of lamb reared in the traditional manner.
