Abacus Nursery is a purpose built day nursery within a log cabin, providing private day care for children between 0 and 5 years old.
We are registered for 31 children, 0 to 2 year olds in the “baby room” where there are constantly at least the recommended 1 adult to 3 babies as per the government’s guidelines. From 2 years old onwards the children move into the “big room” which they will have already been introduced to as we open the doors to the big room for 20 minutes each day to allow the children to explore the surroundings for themselves, at their own pace before the transition.
After 3 years old, our children spend some of the day in the pre-school room where we start to introduce them to the ideas of starting school and they are introduced to the Early Years Foundation Stage learning. We always like to ensure that children are settled in with us, so we actively encourage that parents spend some time with their own children before being left on their own.
All children are assigned a “key worker”, who is a named member of staff who the child will have the most adult contact with to help with the feelings of safety and to build the child’s confidence.
All meals and snacks are freshly prepared on the premises each day, using local produce from named, reputable suppliers and all meals are taken in familiar groups with staff who will encourage good table manners and self feeding where appropriate. Individual needs and requirements are always available. We are registered to accept vouchers from Busy Bees, Accor, Care4, Sodhexo Pass, You at Work and Faircare.

We are open from 8.00am until 6.00pm weekdays throughout the year, only closing for two weeks at Christmas & Bank Holidays.
Out of hours can be arranged by special arrangement.
