Need Wheels
Macclesfield community project to provide wheels 2 work for young people

The successful community project, which is run not for profit, is looking to expand and gain extra funding where possible. The local project is co-ordinated from Macclesfield Town Hall by Claire Whitchurch and Craig Wallace.
Local teenagers often can’t afford the costs involved for their own car or motorbike or access the necessary public transport to allow them to get to work. This innovative scheme offers individuals short term loans of mopeds / scooters for a period of up to 9 months.
The Wheels2Work project will also provide members with all the compulsory safety training and essential safety equipment needed, gloves, waterproof trousers, jacket and helmet. Plus fully taxed and insured bikes, along with the necessary breakdown cover.
The project is especially applicable for young people in rural local areas like, Macclesfield Forest, Pott Shrigley, Siddington, Adlington, Langley, etc but does cover all areas of the borough and throughout the North West with other similar schemes.
Initial problems getting to work and fulfilling employment or further education for young people in the rural areas around Macclesfield can be solved, by using this complete transport solution.
The wheels2work project has also benefited local businesses and employers based in the countryside and struggling to get staff, so the project is often a double success for both employee and employer!
The project also ensures that regional suppliers are used to support this project, helping local employment.
