    • iCare grants a wish for a special little boy iCare recently had the pleasure of visiting little Cillian Magee, mum Paula Magee and dad Colin at their home in Caledon to grant an iCare Wish. Cillian is almost 4 and has Cerebral Palsy, he is a lovely little boy full of fun, smiles and laughter. He loves playing with his toy cars and watching Tipping Point on TV, it’s one of his favourite shows. Like any four-year-old Cillian is growing fast and was getting too big for his current car seat. The family did some research with a car safety centre to find a suitable seat. Cillian can’t use a high back booster because of his lack of core strength and because of special adaptations to meet his needs a new car seat is very expensive. Paula contacted iCare to see if we could help in any way through our iCare Wish initiative. iCare was delighted to be able to help the Magee family by funding the new seat. As well as helping with everyday travel, we hope this leads to plenty of spins in the car and fun days out! Facebook.com22nd Feb, 2018

    • Caroline Rafferty presented Gráinne O'Neill from the Fight on for Annie fund with a donation from Homecare Independent Living - HCIL at a recent 24-hour Prowler Pushing event in Bubba's Project GYM Armagh. Fight on for Annie is a fund set up to raise money for both Pancreatic Cancer UK and Pancreatic Cancer Action in memory of Grainne’s mother Anne O'Neill, who sadly lost her battle with the disease in 2014. - Pancreatic cancer has the poorest survival rates of any of the 20 most common cancers in Northern Ireland - Poor survival rates have not changed in over 40 years - There is a five-year survival rate of just 5.2% - In 2015, there were 273 cases of Pancreatic cancer in Northern Ireland and 228 deaths reported Currently, Pancreatic cancer receives only 1 per cent of overall cancer research funding in the UK and has been chronically underfunded for decades. Fight on for Annie focuses on trying to change the future for other pancreatic cancer patients by fundraising, creating awareness and lobbying the government. Homecare Independent Living is delighted to have been able to contribute to the fundraising efforts of Fight on for Annie. Facebook.com15th Feb, 2018
