As a qualified and registered therapist in Advanced Massage Therapy, Reflexology and Aromatherapy with the Federation of Holistic Therapists, Katherine has a wealth of experience and knowledge, incorporating the latest up-to-date techniques, for treatments, including:-

sports and soft tissue injuries - neck, back and shoulder painhip and pelvis painwhiplashsciatica chronic osteoarthritisgolfer's and tennis elbowstress reduction and relaxationreduce muscular tensionincrease flexibility and movement of muscles - improve gait and posture -or just to improve your health and wellbeing.

Katherine is also a competitive runner and, therefore, has deep knowledge and experience in treating running and sporting injuries as well as providing preventative treatments.

For a full list of treatments, please visit the website, link below.

Before any treatment can commence, a consultation is carried out to understand the symptoms, conditions and presenting problems This will include analysing lifestyle factors, stress levels and dietary habits (where appropriate), to establish the most appropriate treatment, which is then discussed and explained to the client. The treatments are personalised to individual requirements and will, at times, combine various massage techniques to achieve the best possible results. In addition, homecare advice is given, which may include dietary, postural, mobility and exercise advice. The range of therapeutic massage techniques used includes:-

  • Sports Massage – effectively there are four types:-
o Pre-event massage, to help stimulate muscle tension and circulation and help prepare the athlete and reduce the risk of injury.
o Post-event massage concentrates on a reduction of muscle spasm and metabolic build up and helps the recovery of body tissue.
    o
Restorative massage is given during training to help muscles recover from previous activity and prepare for the next. It also supports the healing of occurred injuries and reduces the risk of future injuries.
o Rehabilitative massage, to reduce any injury and to speed up recovery and the healing process of the body and muscles.
  • Clinical & Remedial Massage – looks at healing specific muscular problems and muscular injuries, using advanced massage techniques that are designed to help realign the muscles, reduce pain and tension and boost the healing process.
  • Swedish massage – has shown to be particularly helpful in reducing pain and joint stiffness. This is particularly useful with improving function in patients with osteoarthritis. More relaxing and less deep than a sorts massage, it has the benefit of relaxing the muscles and relieving tension with the aim of increasing a sense of wellbeing.
  • Aromatherapy massage – with highly concentrated plant oils added to the massage oil or lotion, each oil has a different healing property.
  • Reflexology – is a complementary therapy which uses thumb and finger pressures on the feet and hands. It is not only used to treat symptoms but to also leave you feeling relaxed and revitalised.

It should be noted that, to achieve the desired results, several treatments may be required for the muscles and soft tissue to respond. This will, of course, be discussed at the consultation stage. For further details on all available treatments, please visit the website, link below.

In addition to massage, Katherine also offers Nutrition and Weight Management advice; healthy eating habits combined with a more active lifestyle can bring enormous benefits.

Please call to book your initial consultation. All treatments are by appointment only and, to help schedule round work commitments, Katherine can arrange early bird appointments starting from 6.30am.

(When calling, if the phone switches to the answering service, please leave a message, as Katherine may be with a client and, as soon as she is free, she will call you straight back).
