Chiropractor’s use light manipulation termed the adjustment to remove abnormal pressure/restrictions of the spine. These restrictions build up due to a variety of reasons which include; Thoughts (everyday stress), Traumas (accidents, falls) and Toxins (long term medication usage, poor diets), in summary the average Western Lifestyle!
The chiropractor’s goal is to remove unwanted pressure allowing the spine to move properly. When a spine is stiff and sore this decreases the range of motion and special cells in the spine send a message to the brain that the person is feeling pain, thus the brain then as a “Defence Mechanism,” then sends a signal via the spinal cord instructing the muscles to tighten up thus preventing further damage to that area.
The above creates a Vicious Cycle! As the area tightens up further and when a person is in this chronic state the spine and discs degenerate much quicker than a normal healthy moving spine. Chiropractic is part of a healthy lifestyle and should be part of everyone’s who cares about their body.

Dr. James O'Malley - B.Sc., Practitioner of Chiropractic
Dr. James O'Malley graduated from Palmer University in America as a Practitioner of Chiropractic and successfully passed all parts of the American Board Examinations. He then went on to complete the UK's General Chiropractic Council Test of Competence. He also holds a Bachelor in Biomedical Science from Northumbria University, England.
Dr. O'Malley decided to become a chiropractor after he sustained a lower back disc injury while playing professional rugby for the Newcastle Falcons. His injury was so severe that he needed surgery, but afterwards he attended a chiropractor to aid in his rehabilitation. The results were so successful that he was able to return to rugby and he later received a rugby scholarship to Palmer University in America where he completed his Practitioner of Chiropractic degree. Because of his personal experience, Dr. O'Malley has a keen interest in disc injuries and he studied post-graduate courses in Flexion-Distraction protocols which are designed specifically for treating "slipped", herniated, or bulging discs. He is one of only 3 chiropractors certified in the UK in this technique. A specially designed couch is used to help relieve the pressure on injured discs and with treatment many patients have been able to avoid surgery.
